RAF Mk I Mustangs.

A good comparison is seen here between fresh Olive Drab and US-made RAF-equivelant paints on these P-51As being prepared for test flight at NAA, Inglewood, Calif. (Photo: Library of Congress, Prints & Photographs Division, FSA-OWI Collection. Reproduction number, LC-DIG-fsac-1a35323)

Mustang Mk I coded RM-T. (via RNZAF Museum) Steve Brooking says... RM.T is smashing lovely quality. I have seen it before in a book but not so clear. Quite unusual almost certainly green and brown camo and Type A markings etc. Interesting shape in the cockpit clearly not a proper recon camera F24 perhaps a practice camera of some kind?

A 241 Sqn Mustang Mk 1. GR Gould of New Zealand with a Mustang of 241 Sqn, Ayr Scotland. 1942. Steve Brooking says... 241 Squadron used AG511, 512, 513 and 516. 512 is recorded in several places as RZ*A. I have had a bit of a tweak on Photoshop and I cannot bring up a hint of the last digit perhaps it has been painted out? Judging by the shape of the trees it looks lke it might have been taken at Ayr on the Scottish coast near Glasgow. The rough circle of paint behind the a/c code letter shows where they have painted out the NAA applied roundel which was probably painted as a Type A and also in the wrong position. That probably indicates that the a/c is still in original NAA/US camo and might be olive drab and brown?
